I guess school is back in and in fact pretty damn busy already. As you can see I’m messing around with my website some right now. It is currently available at both here and here but we will see what happens in the future… lots of stuff going on… thats about it for now. ttyl

T’was the night before finals, And all through the college, The students were praying For last minute knowledge.

Most were quite sleepy, But none touched their beds, While visions of essays Danced in their heads.

Out in the sports field, There were some throwing, In hope that some exercise Would get their brains going.

In my own apartment, I had been pacing, Dreading all those exams I soon would be facing.

My roommate was speechless, His nose in his books, And my comments to him Drew unfriendly looks.

I drained all the coffee, And brewed a new pot, No longer caring That my nerves were shot.

I stared at my notes, But my thoughts were all muddy, My eyes went a’blur, I just couldn’t study.

“Some pizza might help,” I said with a shiver, But each place I called Refused to deliver.

I’d pretty much concluded Life is unfair and cruel, Since our futures all depend On grades made in school.

When all of a sudden, Our door opened wide, And Patron Saint Put-It-Off Ambled inside.

Her spirit was careless, Her manner was mellow, She looked at the mess And started to bellow:

“Why should us students Make such a fuss, About what those teachers Toss out to us?”

“On Cliff Notes! On Crib Notes! On Last Year’s Exams! On Wingit and Slingit, And Last Minute Crams!”

Her message delivered, She vanished from sight, But we heard her laughing Outside in the night.

“Your teachers won’t flunk you, So just do your best. Happy Finals to All, And to All, a good test.”

Well… looks like Ohio is going to hell…. Our school levy failed again, which is gonna put a lot of people out of jobs and suck again for all the kids in the Lakota Local school district. We somehow put an amendment in our state constitution which prohibits gay and lesbian couples from any rights that are similar to those that a man and woman enjoy… this includes stuff like hospital visitation rights and inheritance… perhaps worst of all it looks like Ohio voted for 4 more years of the same unfortunately. (Although we’re probably not going to be official on that for another 2 weeks, until all the provisional votes are counted. )

On another note, I got a new cell phone and played around with it a lot today after I voted. Here’s a picture I took with it of Liz having too much fun before the football game:

I guess I haven’t posted in a while… I figured I might as well get one post in before October was over. My last post was about football so I’ll talk about that for a little bit:

Miami Football: Looks like Ben was an extremely large part of Miami football and they’ve missed him this year. Josh Betts started the season off by getting as many interceptions as Roethlisburger got touchdowns it seemed like. The last couple games, however, he has started to get into the swing of things. If Miami wins their rest of their games and Marshall loses at least one game, they might get to go to a bowl game again. We’ll soo how it goes I guess.

Ben Roethlisburger: After the Steeler’s starting quaterback got injured early in the season, Ben Roethlisburger, now dubbed “Big Ben” by many in the sports media got his chance to start. He has done an outstanding job. Today, the Steelers played the New England Patriots who had a 21-win streak under their belts. Roethlisburger, however had a 17-game winning streak under his belt as well. Today one of the streaks had to end, and right now its looking like it is going to be the Patriot’s streak. Edit: Yep… the Steelers won. Next week Ben and the Steelers try to take down the only remaining undefeated NFL team.

School is definetely in full gear again. There has been a lot of marching band work and lots of initial reading in a lot of my classes. I might be doing a course extension on my graphics class, we’ll see how that turns out. My Algorithms professor just got his job here and he’s fresh out of doctoral school or whatever they call it. He’s definetely the first professor I’ve had to give me his AIM screen name as contact information on the syllabus.

We’ve already had our first football game (a 49-0 shutout of Indiana State) and we got to play our fight song a helluva lot of times. Unfortunately we don’t get to go the most important Miami(Ohio) football game this year. Its this Saturday and in some random little stadium called “The Big House.” We’ll get to see one of three things on Saturday:

1. Ben Roethlisberger was a one-man team last year, and we would’ve sucked without him
2. Our team was a lot better than anyone gave them credit last year and Roethlisberger took all the credit
3. Both Ben and the Miami Redhawks kicked ass last year, and will continue to kick ass this year

I’m personally hoping for the last one… I’ll be watching this Saturday on ABC and hoping Michigan screws up. Then we’ll find out if the BCS really works or not…

Well it was news to me last Friday, a pretty interesting day…

I started by going to the band camp performance of my high school. I saw a bunch of people I hadn’t seen in a while and it was pretty cool. I even got Wendy’s delivery for dinner (me and a couple people didn’t have a car to go get some food, so we called somebody who was eating already at Wendy’s and they graciously brought us back some grub). The show seems like it has a bunch of potential, but it is in early stages. It’ll be interesting to see later on this year.

Later that night back in West Chester I went to Buffalo Wild Wings with Amir and Josh. That was fun too; we got to play some of that triva game, and I guess the Olympics Opening Ceremony was going on in the background too. We left at around midnight and couldn’t figure out where to go…

We ended up going to Keehner Park (a local park for those of you not from West Chester).We had lots of fun there. We swung on the swings…

we even played some Tic-Tac-Toe on the playset thing. After that we went back to swinging some more and some lively conversation and whatnot. Amir had a slight accident though. Here’s him looking at it, and my looking down at the other part of it in the background:

The swing wasn’t really broken, it just came off the hook. Josh, Amir, nor I were tall/athletic enough to put it back up though… so we just left it. I’m sure it’ll get fixed soon. Right after this happened, a cop pulled into the parking lot and started his super flashlight around, so we went to talk to him. (He didn’t see us with his super flashlight though) He informed us that the park closes at dark, which was news to us. We said our goodbyes and headed out.

Finally, we went to Amir’s house and played some N64. The power went off and came back on. We played some more N64 and then we all went to our respective homes.

Oh yeah… I forget to mention that I’m back at Miami now. Go band!

I started working at King’s Island in 2000, took a year off, and have been there for the past 3 years. My last day is this Saturday, and I will probably not go back next year. Its kinda sad because I’ve met a lot of cool people from my first year at Troika/Vortex/Scooters, a lot of fun people at Son of Beast/Top Gun for a year and a half, and the two awesome crews that we’ve had last year and this year at Express/Ship. It’s been good times, but luckily I get to relax this semester at school. I’m not sure what the point of this post was, so I guess it just to satisfy all the people who keep telling me to update my site.

For the first couple of weeks of summer I didn’t have much to do on the week, with a little work on the weekends. Well King’s island is open FULL TIME now, which means my free time went from uber-free-time to nothing. This week is what we like to call HellFun Week because everyone is still in school, so we are severely understaffed. It should be “awesome”…

Here’s much schedule for next month: Open is from 8:45 until 4:15ish Close is from 3:30 or so until close All day is the whole damn day…

So looks like Movable Type’s new license isn’t really to my liking, so I may be switching to WordPress in the near future… but we shall see. I might mess around with other blogging tools too.

Also, everybody should go sign this petition for Microsoft to fix Internet Explorer for Windows transparent .png support. I’ve been messing around with web stuff, and it would be very good if they fixed this issue.

Also… I’ve got a small project to work on after I get out of school… I have a 486 66MHz PC at my house that I’m going to put Linux on… only problem is that the CD-ROM and FLoppy drive don’t work anymore. The Hard Drive is 6GB so taht shouldn’t be a problem… only 32MB of ram, but there won’t be anything graphical running on it anyways… any suggestions on how to do this? I know I could swap out a floppy drive or CD drive from another computer but that wouldn’t be as fun. Obviously there needs to be a network install… but how to get it to boot into the network mode? Oh yeah… it has Win98 SE on it right now. Leave all suggestions on how to make this work in comments.
